Colonsay Holiday Cottages
We offer 14 charming, fully restored self-catering holiday cottages, ranging from traditional crofters’ cottages to Victorian farmhouses and former estate houses. Accommodating between 2 and 14 guests, the cottages are scattered across the island, many enjoying spectacular sea views. A number are tucked within the beautiful woodland gardens of Colonsay House, and six beautiful apartments situated in the south-facing wing of Colonsay House — a handsome Georgian property built in the Palladian style.
All of our properties are comfortably furnished and thoughtfully equipped. Most cottages include a dishwasher, washing machine, and microwave, although a small number have more compact kitchens where space does not allow for these appliances.
Every property features either an open fire or a wood/coal-burning stove, as well as a private garden area with outdoor furniture.
Bed linen and towels are included in the rental price. Electricity, oil, and coal are charged separately. Guests also have complimentary use of the laundrette at Colonsay House.
We welcome well-behaved dogs in our cottages for a small additional charge. Smaller properties allow one dog, while larger properties can accommodate up to two dogs. Dogs are not permitted in the Backpackers Lodge or the apartments, except for Stable Apartment.
Short breaks are available in Millers (sleeps 8), Harbour (sleeps 6), Glassard (sleeps 4), Avenue (sleeps 4), Pondside (sleeps 4–5), and all apartments. All other properties have a minimum stay of one week.
As there is no terrestrial television signal on the island, TVs are not provided in most cottages. Many guests enjoy the opportunity to switch off and spend quieter evenings with books and board games, all of which are provided in each house. Satellite TV is available in the Kitchen, Nursery, Drumclach, Turnigil, Stable and Pigs Paradise apartments.
Many of our holiday cottages offer free WiFi. However, as Colonsay is a remote island, connections can occasionally be slow or unreliable. We like to think of it as the perfect excuse to disconnect from online life for a while.
Please take a look at our FAQs page, which contains useful information for all guests.
The Colonsay Holiday Cottages office is based in the Estate Office at Colonsay House, where our friendly team are on hand to help with anything you may need during your stay.
