COTTAGE DETAILS
This charming first-floor apartment sits within the grounds of historic Colonsay House, offering a peaceful stay surrounded by beautiful Estate gardens and woodland walks.
Full of character, this comfortable apartment features original details including shuttered windows, vintage furnishings and carefully chosen artwork throughout. The rooms are arranged along a long hallway, with windows overlooking the courtyard and trees.
Accessed via the courtyard and wooden staircase, the apartment opens onto a landing with views across the estate courtyard and surrounding trees. To the right is the inviting living room, where two sofas and a cosy armchair are arranged around an open fire — perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the island. Soft turquoise walls and views over the stunning Colonsay House gardens create a bright yet restful atmosphere, while a magnificent veteran tree provides a beautiful focal point outside.
The kitchen overlooks the courtyard and is well equipped for self-catering, with a dining table for relaxed meals. The bathroom features wood-panelled walls, a shower over the bath, and a skylight that fills the space with natural light.
There are two comfortable bedrooms: a cosy twin room with courtyard views and a vintage dresser, and a spacious double bedroom at the end of the hallway, also overlooking the courtyard and furnished with charming vintage pieces.
Please note that there is no washing machine or tumble dryer within the apartment; however, guests are welcome to use the communal launderette located nearby on the approach to the apartment entrance. Parking is available a short walk away in the garden and café car park.
Guests are welcome to enjoy the Estate’s extensive woodland gardens at any time, with peaceful walks beginning right from the apartment door. From early April to October, the celebrated Colonsay House Gardens are open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays (admission charge applies), and the garden café is open during these times — ideal for enjoying coffee and cake in a beautiful setting or spending an afternoon exploring the historic gardens.
