Colonsay Holiday Cottages
We have 15 charming and fully restored self-catering holiday cottages ranging from crofters’ cottages, to Victorian farmhouses and former estate houses. Sleeping from 2 to 14 people, the holiday cottages are scattered all over the island and most have spectacular sea views. A few cottages are nestled in amongst the woodland gardens of Colonsay House. There are also 5 beautiful apartments located in a south facing wing of Colonsay House, a pretty Georgian house built in the Palladian style.
SHORT BREAKS can be booked in Tobaroran (slp 10), Sgreadan (slp 6), Avenue (slp 4), Pondside (slp 4/5) and ALL the apartments. All other properties have a minimum of 1 week booking.
All our properties are comfortably furnished and as well equipped as space allows. Nearly all properties have a dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. A couple of cottages have quite small kitchens where we simply cannot fit a dishwasher or washing machine. Each property has an open fire or wood/coal burning stove and a garden area with outdoor furniture.
All bed linen and towels are included in the rental price. Electricity, oil and coal are paid for separately. There is a laundrette at Colonsay House available free to our guests.
We welcome dogs in our properties, for which there is a small charge, and we allow a maximum of one well behaved dog in our smaller properties and two well behaved dogs in our larger properties.
We do not provide TVs in the cottages because there is no terrestrial TV signal on the island. We have found however that, on the whole, our guests are delighted to turn to games and reading on a rainy day. Every holiday house has a selection of games and books.
We do provide a satellite TV in Nursery, Drumclach, Turnigil, Stable and Pigs Paradise apartments.
Many of our holiday cottages have free WiFi. There is also free WiFi access for all our guests at The Colonsay hotel. However patience is required; please bear in mind that you are on a remote island and that the broadband can be slow and sometimes erratic. We see it as an opportunity to switch off from online life for a while!
The main Colonsay Holiday Cottages office is located at Colonsay House although the staff at the Colonsay hotel office will also be able to help you. In both offices you will find our friendly team to assist you with all your holiday needs.

HOLIDAY COTTAGES TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Provisional bookings are confirmed on receipt of a 40% deposit. We strongly recommend that you take out holiday cancellation insurance, as the deposit is non-refundable. We recommend StaycationPlan holiday cover, CancellationPlan. Bookings will remain firm provided the deposit is received within 5 days. The balance due must be received twelve weeks prior to the period booked and is non-refundable. A reminder will be sent prior to this date. Bookings cancelled after this time will be charged full rental. Any changes to bookings prior to full payment may incur a £50 administration charge. Payment should be made by debit card or credit card or by electronic bank transfer (BACS). We do not accept cheques as a method of payment. Colonsay Holidays reserves the right to amend confirmed bookings with respect to accommodation and you will be notified of any alterations prior to your arrival. If it is not possible to find alternative accommodation you will be notified at the earliest opportunity and refunded in full. Colonsay Holidays expects properties to be left clean and tidy on departure and reserves the right to charge a minimum of £50 for properties left unclean on departure. Electricity and oil in houses/cottages is charged separately. Your electricity/oil meter will be read on arrival and departure and you will be charged at cost. If you are staying in a house or cottage and would like coal delivered, it must be ordered at the time of final payment. The coal is supplied in 25kg bags. Coal and kindling can be pre ordered and delivered for £15 per bag. Once on the island, coal can be purchased from the Service Point. Any purchases from the Colonsay Holidays office once on the island will be delivered and will be charged accordingly.
We allow 1 dog per property in the smaller cottages and 2 dogs in the sleep 8 and above houses at a charge of £30/dog/week. We do not allow dogs in the Colonsay House apartments (except Stable and Sgoltaire).
Please note that we require your credit or debit card details on arrival (except for reservations in the Backpackers), so that on departure outstanding bills for electricity, oil, breakages (if any) and any extra cleaning (if required) can be charged to the card given.
