COTTAGE DETAILS
This charming seaside cottage, set in a tranquil hamlet, is the perfect place to slow down, soak up island life, and make unforgettable memories on Colonsay.
Glassard is a recently renovated semi-detached cottage in a peaceful hamlet. Sitting right beside the sea, it enjoys spectacular views across the water towards Jura and Islay, making it the perfect spot to relax, watch passing ships and the island ferry, or enjoy birdwatching straight from the window. With two entrances and a bright coastal feel, the cottage provides a true sense of peace and relaxation.
The cottage is arranged over two floors and sleeps up to four guests. Upstairs, the comfortable double bedroom looks out to sea, while a smaller bunk room at the rear is ideal for children or an additional adult. Downstairs, the living and dining area is welcoming and airy, with an open fire to cosy up by on cooler evenings. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and has views onto the sea and harbour. The downstairs bathroom, painted in coastal blue, has a bath with shower over, and there is a utility area off the bathroom, helping to keep the cottage tidy and organised. Two good-sized porches at the front and rear are also perfect for storing coats, boots, wetsuits, or outdoor gear after a day exploring the island.
From the cottage windows, the view over the water is never still and the cottage is ideal for wildlife and sea watching. Children will delight in spotting the ferry gliding into Scalasaig, and there are always seabirds to be seen. Across the waves you can see the mountains of Jura. On clear mornings, the sun sparkles on the waves, and in the evenings the sky turns a soft wash of pink and gold, creating the perfect backdrop for family stories, board games by the fire, or simply sitting together and watching the world go by.
Outside, Glassard offers parking for up to two cars. It is just a short walk from the village of Scalasaig, where the ferry arrives, and close to the local shop, cafe, and the popular Pantry restaurant. Despite this proximity, the cottage remains tucked away outside of the main bustle, giving guests the best of both worlds: convenience and quiet.
Whether you choose to settle in by the open fire for a cosy night in, step out to enjoy the sunsets over the water, or wander into the village for an evening meal or local entertainment, Glassard provides a warm, welcoming base for a memorable Colonsay holiday.
