Millers is your quiet and welcoming island retreat combining space, charm and stunning natural surroundings, offering a true taste of island living in the heart of Colonsay.

Millers is a charming, fully renovated four-bedroom traditional cottage with a contemporary extension offering the perfect blend of island character and modern comfort. Beautifully positioned in the heart of Colonsay and facing south towards Loch Fada, the cottage enjoys a lovely front garden and a sheltered, private sun terrace to the rear. It’s an ideal spot to relax, dine outdoors, or simply enjoy the peace of the island.

Inside, the décor is stylish and welcoming, with spacious ground-floor rooms and thoughtful touches throughout. The generous living area features a large L-shaped sofa set around a cosy multi-fuel stove—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. This open-plan space flows into the well-appointed kitchen and dining area, where patio doors frame views of the garden and a large dining table sets the scene for relaxed gatherings.

The ground floor also includes two good sized double bedrooms overlooking the garden, one of which is ensuite with a shower over bath, the other of which is wood panelled and sits next to a modern separate bathroom featuring a walk-in shower. A separate utility room with a washer, dryer, and sink, and a handy entrance porch for boots and outdoor gear, both add extra convenience.

Upstairs, a large Velux skylight fills the spacious landing with natural light, creating an airy, uplifting space to sit and read or relax on the comfy armchair. The upstairs bathroom has a bath—ideal for a long soak after a day of walking. The first floor has a twin bedroom and two single adjoining attic rooms, perfect for children. The three bedrooms on this floor enjoy charming views, either over the garden and surrounding trees, or the hillside and Loch Fada.

The gardens at Millers are truly special. Beautifully landscaped and dotted with mature trees, borders, and flowering shrubs, they create a picturesque setting for your stay. A unique woodland garden with its own meandering path winds around the house, offering a magical space to sit and relax in, or for children to play in within the safety of the enclosed garden. In winter, the grounds are transformed by carpets of delicate snowdrops. In summer, take a seat in the sunroom, which is accessed from the garden, and enjoy the surroundings. A barbecue area on the patio lends itself to fun, carefree summer evenings in the fresh island air.

Millers sits in a wonderful central location, giving you easy access to all sides of the island. Head north to the iconic beaches of Kiloran and Balnahard, or south towards Scalasaig for village life, shops, and the island’s gin distillery. Although just off the main circular road, the cottage is set back, so that it feels private and secluded, surrounded by farmland and close to the loch—a true taste of island living. A large private driveway provides generous parking for up to approximately five cars.

HOLIDAY COTTAGES TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Provisional bookings are confirmed on receipt of a 40% deposit. We strongly recommend that you take out holiday cancellation insurance, as the deposit is non-refundable. Bookings will remain firm provided the deposit is received within 5 days. The balance due must be received twelve weeks prior to the period booked and is non-refundable. A reminder will be sent prior to this date. Bookings cancelled after this time will be charged full rental. Any changes to bookings prior to full payment may incur a £100 administration charge. Payment should be made by debit card or credit card or by electronic bank transfer (BACS). We do not accept cheques as a method of payment. Colonsay Holidays reserves the right to amend confirmed bookings with respect to accommodation and you will be notified of any alterations prior to your arrival. If it is not possible to find alternative accommodation you will be notified at the earliest opportunity and refunded in full. Colonsay Holidays expects properties to be left clean and tidy on departure and reserves the right to charge a minimum of £100 for properties left unclean on departure. Electricity and oil in houses/cottages is charged separately. Your electricity/oil meter will be read on arrival and departure and you will be charged at cost. If you are staying in a house or cottage and would like coal delivered, it must be ordered at the time of final payment. The coal is supplied in 25kg bags. Coal can be pre ordered and delivered for £30 per bag. Once on the island, coal can be purchased from the Service Point. Any purchases from the Colonsay Holidays office once on the island will be delivered and will be charged accordingly. We allow 1 dog per property in the smaller cottages and 2 dogs in the sleep 8 and above houses at a charge of £30/dog/week. We do not allow dogs in the Colonsay House apartments (except Stable and Sgoltaire).

Please note that we require your credit or debit card details on arrival (except for reservations in the Backpackers), so that on departure outstanding bills for electricity, oil, breakages (if any) and any extra cleaning (if required) can be charged to the card given.
