COTTAGE DETAILS
Perfect for couples or solo travellers seeking a peaceful escape, Drumclach offers a unique blend of historic character, scenic views, and quiet comfort within the heart of the Colonsay Estate.
Set on the second floor within the historic grounds of Colonsay Estate, Drumclach is a charming apartment that was once part of Colonsay House itself. Full of character and quiet elegance, it offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by the estate’s gardens, ancient trees, and rolling hills beyond.
The apartment celebrates its heritage through carefully chosen antique furnishings and original details. You’ll find a beautiful collection of antique chairs, a dresser, wardrobe, and period fixtures and fittings, all complemented by coastal- and garden-themed artworks that reflect the surrounding landscape – all combining to create a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels both timeless and comfortable.
The entrance hallway welcomes you with a window overlooking the tranquil courtyard below. The kitchen and bathroom also enjoy views across the courtyard and out towards the estate grounds, trees, and distant hills. The well-appointed kitchen is thoughtfully equipped for self-catering, including a dishwasher, microwave, and fridge freezer, making it easy to prepare relaxed meals during your stay.
Both the bedroom and living area enjoy beautiful garden views, taking in ancient trees, thoughtfully planted shrubs and flowers, and a stream gently meandering through the grounds into the woodland beyond. The living area is arranged for comfort and relaxation, with a sofa and armchair gathered around an open fire and TV. A dining table sits beside a window overlooking the gardens — a lovely spot for breakfast or an evening meal while watching the light change through the trees.
The bedroom offers a large, comfortable bed, a built-in wardrobe, and a small original skylight that adds to the room’s historic charm. The bathroom, located off the bedroom, features a bath with handheld shower attachment and retains its period character through traditional fittings, blending comfort with character.
There is a communal laundrette with washing machines and dryers available free of charge to all guests adjacent to the apartments. Car parking is available a short walk from the apartment, in the gardens and tearoom car park. Colonsay House is a private residence and the walled gardens immediately in front of the house are not available to apartment guests. However, the extensive woodland gardens are available for you to explore at your leisure — from wandering through the gardens and admiring the famous rhododendron collection to enjoying a gentle stroll down to the tearoom.
This is a pet-free apartment (no dogs allowed).
