COTTAGE DETAILS

Pondside invites you to slow down, listen to the birds, and unwind into the calm of nature and island living.

Pondside is a charming former groundskeeper’s stone cottage with beautiful woodland views in every direction. Set on the edge of the historic Colonsay House Gardens and reached via a private track, it enjoys a peaceful position beside the estate pond and close to the woodland stream.

As you step inside, there is a handy tiled utility area, ideal for storing boots and coats after a day walking the island or enjoying the beach. The cosy sitting room offers a comfortable place to relax, with an open fire that makes a welcoming spot to unwind after a day exploring. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for your stay and includes a breakfast table by the window — a lovely place to sip your morning coffee while looking out into the trees.

Also on the ground floor is a second sitting and dining space with a sofa and dining table. This room can also be used as an additional bedroom, with a pull-out sofa bed available if needed. Towards the rear of the house on the ground floor is the main bathroom, with a shower over bath. There is also a utility room with a second WC. Please note that both the bathroom and kitchen are accessed via a small step. Upstairs you will find two bedrooms — one double and one twin — both with Velux windows framing lovely treetop views.

Outside, the cottage has a sheltered south-facing lawned garden, a peaceful spot to relax outdoors and watch the changing light through the trees. Parking is available right outside the front door, with space for around three vehicles, making access easy. From your doorstep you can wander straight into the gardens to explore tranquil woodland paths, the renowned rhododendron collection, and the riverside at your leisure. In spring and summer, take a relaxed stroll through the gardens to the estate tea rooms for lunch or afternoon tea. In the cooler months, settle in by the fire with board games or a good book and enjoy the peaceful woodland setting.

Because of the sleeping arrangements (one double and one twin upstairs, and a sofa bed downstairs), the cottage is best suited to a maximum of four adults, or a family of two adults and three children. For families, please note that the staircase has open slatted railings.

HOLIDAY COTTAGES TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Provisional bookings are confirmed on receipt of a 40% deposit. We strongly recommend that you take out holiday cancellation insurance, as the deposit is non-refundable. Bookings will remain firm provided the deposit is received within 5 days. The balance due must be received twelve weeks prior to the period booked and is non-refundable. A reminder will be sent prior to this date. Bookings cancelled after this time will be charged full rental. Any changes to bookings prior to full payment may incur a £100 administration charge. Payment should be made by debit card or credit card or by electronic bank transfer (BACS). We do not accept cheques as a method of payment. Colonsay Holidays reserves the right to amend confirmed bookings with respect to accommodation and you will be notified of any alterations prior to your arrival. If it is not possible to find alternative accommodation you will be notified at the earliest opportunity and refunded in full. Colonsay Holidays expects properties to be left clean and tidy on departure and reserves the right to charge a minimum of £100 for properties left unclean on departure. Electricity and oil in houses/cottages is charged separately. Your electricity/oil meter will be read on arrival and departure and you will be charged at cost. If you are staying in a house or cottage and would like coal delivered, it must be ordered at the time of final payment. The coal is supplied in 25kg bags. Coal can be pre ordered and delivered for £30 per bag. Once on the island, coal can be purchased from the Service Point. Any purchases from the Colonsay Holidays office once on the island will be delivered and will be charged accordingly. We allow 1 dog per property in the smaller cottages and 2 dogs in the sleep 8 and above houses at a charge of £30/dog/week. We do not allow dogs in the Colonsay House apartments (except Stable and Sgoltaire).

Please note that we require your credit or debit card details on arrival (except for reservations in the Backpackers), so that on departure outstanding bills for electricity, oil, breakages (if any) and any extra cleaning (if required) can be charged to the card given.
