Annual Island Events

Book Festival - 27th and 28th April 2019
Conversations @ The Edge, Colonsay's Book Festival, is in April. It has recently featured famous Scottish authors such as Ian Rankin, Alexander McCall Smith, Val McDermid, Candia McWilliam and Mairi Hedderwick, it always promises to be a feast of Scottish writing.

Festival of Spring - 29th April to 19th May 2019
Colonsay is holding its 8th FESTIVAL OF SPRING in May 2018. It will run for 3 weeks and will offer an extraordinary range of guided walks, talks, activities, lectures and workshops. From birds and wildflowers to painting and sculpting, foraging and cooking and photography courses. There will be some evening events as well. Something for everyone!

11th Colonsay Folk Festival - 12th to 16th September 2018
The 11th COLONSAY FOLK FESTIVAL will be staged from Attracting the cream of Scotland's folk music talent, this event sells out very fast!

Autumn Food and Drink Festival - 10th to 24th October 2018
Autumn FOOD and DRINK Festival will run from 10th October for 2 weeks. We have celebrity experts demonstrating, presenting and tasting (in 2017 we had Mary Contini (cookery writer and TV presenter), Charles McLean (renowned whisky expert) and Geraldine Coates to teach you all about gin). From tastings to baking, preserving, foraging and cooking sessions. Plenty also for children; baking, jam making, craft sessions, treasure hunt and outdoor activity trails.

October Food and Drink Festival 2019

The 9th Colonsay FOOD and DRINK Festival will run from 9th October for 2 weeks. We have celebrity experts demonstrating, presenting and tasting. This year we featured Pru Irvine (cookery writer and teacher), Charlotte Flower (extraordinary chocolatier), Christopher Trotter (presenter and author), Alison Henderson (renowned chef and baker) and Fiona Misselbrook (fabulous cookery teacher) to forage, cook and learn to make bread!

Colonsay Book Festival 2019

Now in its 7th year, the Colonsay Book Festival will be held on the weekend of 27th and 28th April 2019. It is the smallest and most remote literary festival in the UK but it attracts authors with huge reputations.
