COTTAGE DETAILS

Ideal for families or small groups, Turnigil offers a comfortable blend of historic character, generous living space, and a superb location at the heart of Colonsay. With its comfortable layout and timeless atmosphere, it provides a relaxed and inviting base for families or friends exploring the island.

This south facing, sunny apartment retains a strong sense of heritage, with antique furnishings throughout, including traditional chairs, wardrobes, and characterful period light fittings. These historic touches are thoughtfully balanced with modern comforts, creating a space that feels both elegant and easy to settle into.

Turnigil offers two well-proportioned bedrooms — one double and one twin — each enjoying peaceful views over the Colonsay Estate gardens. Wake to scenes of mature trees, open lawns, and the stream winding gently through the grounds, offering a calm and restorative start to the day.

The spacious living area is arranged for comfort and relaxation, with ample seating gathered around an open fire and TV — an ideal spot to unwind after a day exploring the estate or coastline. Natural light filters in through the garden-facing windows, enhancing the sense of space and tranquillity.

A generous kitchen diner forms the heart of the apartment and is well equipped for self-catering, including a dishwasher and plenty of space for relaxed meals or leisurely breakfasts. There is no washing machine or dryer in the apartment, but a communal laundrette with washing machines and dryers is available free of charge to all guests, adjacent to the apartments. The bathroom is bright and spacious, with a shower over the bath and tiled flooring.

Car parking is available a short walk from the apartment, in the gardens and café car park. The Estate’s extensive woodland gardens are open to guests at all times, offering the chance to step straight from your apartment into peaceful walks among the trees. From early April through to October, the Colonsay House gardens are open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays (admission charge applies), with the garden café also open — so you can enjoy a coffee in scenic surroundings or take time to explore the historic gardens.
