COTTAGE DETAILS
Perfect as a relaxing retreat for couples, this first-floor apartment in Colonsay House has wonderful views over the beautiful Colonsay House gardens.
Throughout the apartment, you’ll find delightful touches that celebrate its past: antique furniture, a coffee table crafted from the old key chest, vintage light fittings, a tiled fireplace, panelled shutter windows, an original calling bell, and artworks—including a charming piece of the original nursery itself, complete with rocking horse. A built-in desk with drawers sits beneath a window, perfect for journaling or watching the gardens wake up in the morning.
Both the bedroom and living area boast views over the wonderful Colonsay House gardens. Relax with your morning coffee or enjoy breakfast while taking in the ancient trees, meandering stream, vibrant shrubs, and colourful seasonal flowers. Start your day with a slow stroll through the woodland garden, explore the iconic rhododendron collection, and perhaps wander down to the café for a leisurely treat (Tuesdays and Thursdays).
The living room combines style and comfort, featuring a cosy seating area arranged around a TV and open fire, alongside a dining table. The bedroom offers a comfortable bed, a spacious wardrobe, and beautiful artworks. The modern, stylish bathroom overlooks the courtyard and features wood panelling, a stone floor with underfloor heating, a large walk-in shower, a heated towel rail, and a light, airy atmosphere.
The kitchen, overlooking the tranquil courtyard, is compact yet thoughtfully equipped, including a dishwasher, and offers plenty of storage. Please note there is no washing machine or tumble dryer in the apartment, but guests are welcome to use the communal launderette located on the way up to the apartment entrance. Car parking is available a short walk from the apartment, in the garden and café car park.
The Estate’s extensive woodland gardens are open to guests at all times, offering the chance to step straight from your apartment into peaceful walks among the trees. From early April through to October, the Colonsay House private gardens are open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays (admission charge applies), with the garden café also open — so you can enjoy a coffee in scenic surroundings or take time to explore the historic gardens.
