COTTAGE DETAILS
Whether you’re watching the boats come and go or settling in by the fire, Harbour Cottage invites you to slow down and feel at home on Colonsay.
Enjoy a wonderful island break right in the heart of Colonsay at Harbour Cottage. This charming white-painted stone cottage sits in a perfect central spot beside the harbour, just moments from the friendly bustle of Scalasaig.
You’re less than a five-minute stroll from the Waiting Room Gallery, the Colonsay Pantry, the Island Shop, the village hall for local events, the ferry terminal, and the community garden—everything you need is right on your doorstep.
The Pantry is also ideal for an easy evening out, whether you fancy a relaxed dinner or a drink as the sun goes down, before enjoying the two minute walk back to the cottage. Or, if you’re in the mood for a cosy night in, curl up by the stove with a good book or a board game.
The cottage offers fantastic views over the harbour, sea, and surrounding countryside. History lovers will enjoy spotting Dun Eibhinn from the downstairs windows—a historic hillfort believed to have been built in the early 11th century as a royal residence and seat of Viking power.
Harbour Cottage has one comfortable downstairs bedroom with views towards Dun Eibhinn, and two bright upstairs bedrooms with skylights looking out over the harbour and sea. On the ground floor, there is a bathroom, a sitting/dining room with a solid fuel burning stove and a small but well equipped kitchen. Outside, you’ll find a pretty, private enclosed garden—perfect for relaxing on sunny days.
Please note that this cosy cottage features a compact sitting room and kitchen and comfortably accommodates up to four adults, or two adults with up to four children. If you are visiting with young children, please note that the garden gate is raised quite high at the bottom, and the staircase to the upstairs bedrooms is steep and ladder-style.
